Falsettos
September 10-20, 2026
St. Francis in the Foothills UMC
A seamless pairing of March of the Falsettos and Falsettoland, two acclaimed Off-Broadway musicals written nearly a decade apart, Falsettos is the tale of a neurotic New Yorker named Marvin, who leaves his wife Trina and young son Jason to live with his lover, Whizzer. In time, Trina marries his psychiatrist, Whizzer leaves him, and Marvin ends up alone. Two years later, Marvin and Whizzer reunite on the eve of Jason’s bar mitzvah, just as AIDS is beginning its insidious spread. With the help of their neighbors, Charlotte and Cordelia, Marvin and his entire family learn to grow up and face their future with love and dignity.
Road Works Presents:
Mathew 33:6
Workshops July-November, 2026
Mountain Vista Unitarian Universalist
Road Works is Winding Road Theatre’s collaborative new works development initiative, designed to support the exploration, refinement, and growth of original theatrical work through a flexible, artist-driven process.
The inaugural Road Works cycle will center around the development of Mathew 33:6, a new work by Tucson-raised playwright Stuart Bousel, explored through a workshop series and a culminating staged presentation.
The Play
Mathew 33:6 begins with an impossible event: after a minor accident at home, 33-year-old Mathew unexpectedly dies, only to awaken in a morgue three days later. From there, the story becomes a deeply human exploration of identity, family, relationships, grief, and the search for meaning in ourselves and the world around us, unfolding amid the beautiful chaos of family, old wounds, impossible questions, and the strange miracle that somehow everyone still ends up at Thanksgiving dinner with pie.
Dogfight
February 18-28, 2027
It's November 21, 1963. On the eve of their deployment to a small but growing conflict in Southeast Asia, three young Marines set out for one final boys' night of debauchery, partying and maybe a little trouble. But, when Corporal Eddie Birdlace meets Rose, an awkward and idealistic waitress whom he enlists to win a cruel bet with his fellow recruits, she rewrites the rules of the game and teaches him the power of love and compassion.
